Dr. Chris Brattain

Dr. Chris Brattain steps into the role of DCISD Assistant Superintendent after serving the last two years as the DCISD High School Principal. He brings over 20 years of experience as a campus-level principal and central office administrator to this new position. In addition to his work in DCISD, Dr. Brattain serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Educational Leadership department at Texas Tech University. 

Dr. Brattain earned his Bachelor's Degree from Wayland Baptist University, where he also played collegiate basketball for the Pioneers. He went on to earn his Master's Degree from West Texas A&M University and his Doctoral Degree (Ed.D.) from Texas Tech University.  Reflecting on his journey in education, Dr. Brattain shared: "I have been blessed throughout my educational journey with people that God has placed in my life to fill in the gap, to guide, teach, and model for me throughout. Whether these people be teachers, coaches, administrators, or community members, I learned lessons and grew into the educator/adult I would later become. My intent was and is to always treat everyone I come into contact with the same way I'd want to be treated. I've hoped to always make sure each of the teachers, students, and families I've interacted with over the years has felt loved and supported. I couldn't have developed this without those who provided it to me as a young person and adult. My educational philosophy includes the South African principle of 'Ubuntu,' which means, 'I am because we are.' This speaks to the essence of a shared humanity and the belief that what affects my brother or sister affects me." 

In addition to his administrative duties, Dr. Brattain will continue his service to DCISD as the Head Mustangs Basketball Coach.
